His first forays into the world of letters were as a typographer, journalist and chronicler. He was a contributor to the Universal Illustrated and Magazine of Magazines in Mexico City. He was editor-in-chief of the Revista Universal de México and the Revista de Arquitectura. From 1959 for several years he was head of the Department of Literature at the National Institute of Fine Arts, where he gave great impetus to the publication of books and the holding of conferences on many aspects of Mexican literature.
He was a member of the Mexican Language Academy and the Mexican Culture Seminar. Published 50 books and have the peculiarity that among their pages are included several monographs dedicated to Aguascalientes. His works include: "Sirena del Aula", "Ya Viene Gorgonio Esparza!", "Los Días de Aguascalientes", "Al Pie de la Letra", "Letras Sobre Aguascalientes" and "Cinco Escritores en el Olvido".
In 1980 he turned 50 as a writer and is considered one of the best contemporary writers. In the Cabildos Hall of the H. Hidrotermopolitano City Council, in a solemn session he was declared "Favorite Son of Aguascalientes". Also the State University declared him "Doctor Honoris Causa" and in his honor the central street of Palmira was named.
